Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has disclosed key details regarding the Dubai Loop project—an advanced transportation initiative set to be developed in collaboration with Elon Musk’s The Boring Company.
The announcement was made during Musk’s session at the World Governments Summit 2025 on Thursday morning.
A few hours after the session, Sheikh Hamdan shared further insights about the underground transportation network on Musk’s social media platform, X. Musk described the project as resembling a “wormhole,” emphasizing its futuristic approach to urban mobility.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the Dubai Loop is poised to transform transportation, reinforcing the city’s position as a global leader in innovative mobility solutions.
Strategic Partnership Between Dubai and The Boring Company
On the sidelines of the summit, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) formalized a partnership with The Boring Company by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Sheikh Hamdan stated that this agreement will facilitate the exploration and development of the 17-kilometre transportation project.
As part of the announcement, Sheikh Hamdan confirmed that the project will feature 11 stations, designed to accommodate over 20,000 passengers per hour. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of enhancing urban connectivity and providing cutting-edge mobility solutions.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the Dubai Loop project underscores the city’s dedication to pioneering innovative transportation methods. He further noted that Dubai’s drive for innovation is powered by strong collaborations with global industry leaders.
Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai continues to redefine urban transportation—both above and below ground—setting new standards for efficiency, sustainability, and seamless connectivity.
