In a move to foster unity and collective progress, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed has officially declared 2025 as the Year of Community. The initiative, operating under the slogan Hand in Hand, invites all residents of the UAE to contribute to the betterment of the community. The President highlighted the importance of strengthening societal bonds and fostering shared responsibility to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.
“Hand in hand, we will work to fortify social connections, encourage collective responsibility, and unlock opportunities for sustainable growth,” Sheikh Mohamed stated in a recent social media post. The UAE’s leader emphasized that a combination of ambitious thinking and decisive action will ensure the nation continues to serve as an inspiring model of progress and prosperity.
Leadership Endorsement and Focus Areas
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, praised the initiative, describing it as a strategic step towards prioritizing social cohesion and fostering unity across the nation. He emphasized that a resilient community forms the foundation for a brighter future, adding that the nation’s strength is deeply rooted in the care and connection shared among its people.
Innovation and Cultural Heritage
The Year of Community will also place a strong emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging industries, including artificial intelligence. Additionally, the initiative aims to preserve cultural heritage, promote Emirati values, and nurture intergenerational relationships. Through various events and programs planned throughout 2025, the initiative seeks to create inclusive spaces and strengthen societal ties.
The initiative will be spearheaded by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects.
A Continuation of National Priorities
The announcement follows last year’s declaration of 2024 as the Year of Sustainability, which built upon the environmental focus of 2023. Sheikh Mohamed previously emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of all members of society. This spirit of collective action continues into the Year of Community, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to fostering unity, innovation, and sustainable development.
